<br />"\~ <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 10, 1987 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Anderson had nothing further to add to the staff report concerning <br />members request by the Bel Air PTA for city assistance in <br />completing development of the school playground, <br /> <br />Barb Ritter, representative of the PTA, and Isaac Bjorklund, <br />student council president, were introduced by Benke. <br /> <br />':.;,"' <br /> <br />Ritter introduced several parents and staff of the Bel Air school. <br />A group of children of the Bel Air school stood and introduced <br />themselves; outlined the playground equipment project; stated the <br />project is 80% funded; asked the City for a contribution of <br />$4,000.00 to complete the playground. <br /> <br />Bjorklund stated the need for the funds; the history of student <br />involvement in this project; briefly outlined the various uses of <br />the playground in question; commented on the students' financial <br />support of the project; ended his statement with a plea for help <br />from the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />In response to Gunderman's question, Ritter responded completion <br />is scheduled for spring of 1987; stated the School District, as <br />part of its contribution to the project, will provide for <br />installation and subsequent maintenance of the equipment. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Williams stated the question had come up at the Park Board meeting <br />as to whether or not the School District had provided any funding <br />for the project. <br /> <br />Ritter responded the District has provided installation and sand, <br />but no funding. <br /> <br />Benke stated the difference between the current request and a <br />request granted the Pike Lake School is there is a City Park <br />directly adjacent to the Pike Lake School playg~ound; stated the <br />School District provided installation and maintenance of the <br />equipment involved in that request.
