<br />Specific Guidelines Page 3 <br />1. Develop a written evaluation form to evaluate all leaders on their <br />contribution toward enriching individual and community life and their <br />ability to get across program content. <br />2. During each program, each leader will be observed at least three <br />times by a supervisor, one observation of which shall be by a <br />full-time staff member. <br />3. During each program, two meetings will be held between the instructor <br />and the supervisor to discuss problems, improvements, and general <br />comments about the program. <br />4. Develop and distribute a questionnaire to evaluate effectiveness. <br />5. Develop a suggestion box allowing citizens to improve our effectiveness. <br />V. PUBLIC RELATIONS <br />Use communication media to inform the public of the functions and operations <br />of the department. <br />1. Establish and maintain a weekly column in the 1oca1 newspaper in order <br />to keep the public informed of coming events and activities presently, <br />being offered. <br />2. Investigate the possibility of a weekly public service announcement <br />on the local radio station. <br />3. Keep medias of the metropolitan area aware of issues or subjects <br />which may be newsworthy to the area as a whole. <br />4. Prepare and submit articles on subjects which are of interest to <br />national or regional organizations. <br />5. Develop a sign out system for athletic equipment and other material <br />put out on loan to the citizens. <br />6. Develop a standardized visitor greeting procedure. <br />7. Prepare and issue a civic directory six months after the SUN <br />directory is released. Also determine election dates and officers <br />presently in office. <br />8. Develop a slide presentation that depicts the recreation and park- <br />department and its role in the community to present to local groups; <br />i.e. PTS, Boy Scouts. <br />9. Develop. and mail to each New Brighton resident on April 15 and Dec- <br />ember 15, two major recreation brochures announcing program offerings <br />during the winter, spring, and summer seasons. <br />VI. PERSONNEL <br />Secure the most qualified seasonal staff available using experience, <br />.education and attitude as criteria. -.Then encourage the staff to grow <br />and develop professionally. <br />
