February 26, 1981
To: Park Board Members
From: Maurice H. Anderson, Director Park and Recreation
Re: Park Place Park, Rice Creek Park
In preparation for completion of the Comprehensive Park
Plan, the Board should formally name the park and adopt
a concept plan.
The Park Board's policy for naming neighborhood parks
states the following:
-Names should. be selected early in the planning
.process with input from the neighborhood meetings.
-Names should be descriptive of the location and
should be meaningful to those who will be using
them.
-Neighborhood parks should not be named after a
person.
-Park names should be submitted to the Council
for approval.
Considerations
The park is close to the following streets:
Mississippi Street
Rice Creek Road
29th Avenue
It is located in Park Place addition. It is next to Rice
Creek Plaza Shopping Center.
It will have a near level grade with no mature trees.
Concept Plan
The first draft will be ready by meeting time at the latest
and hopefully reflects the desires. of the residents.
