Minutes of October 7, 1981 were approved as written <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Schmidt said the .bids for Hansen Park came in around $80,000. <br />Saved about $20,000. The. contractor has started, they are <br />moving fast. <br />At the last Council meeting a Public Hearing was set for. Novem- <br />ber 24th for preliminary development for the hotel in downtown <br />New Brighton. The contractor is from Illinois and working with <br />Kraus-Anderson. The contractor from Illinois is very interested <br />in working here. The guy said they want to build a hotel better <br />than the one_on 35W. They are trying to beat the clock because <br />of possible legislation changes on December 31st. <br />The Council gave staff and attorneys authorization to enter into <br />contract for land on County Road D and 35W. BTO developer is <br />looking. at 135,000 sq. ft. office building, City will have to <br />have another industrial area. Those three projects are good de- <br />velopment possibilities. <br />B. Long Lake Park Study Committee Report (Letter Referral) <br />Dahl stated the committee referred a portion of the letter from the <br />homeowners back to the Park Board. The portion was the alternatives. <br />The reason it is being referred is because the committee was not <br />supposed to discuss this kind of thing. .The committee has gone to <br />making motions.. You will be seeing a motion at the end of the meeting <br />to see how everyone feels... The boat launch was .talked about and a <br />motion was made to leave it as it was. <br />Gunderman said he heard that.. if it is left that way, the lake cannot <br />be stocked. <br />Dahl ,said the committee liked it and would leave it as it was. <br />Dahl said there is a standard of one space for every 20 acres of <br />water (for parking). Met Council said they would .like 15 spaces <br />but donut have to have. Met Council was speaking in terms of need. <br />.Anderson said once the master plan is drafted it will ,go to one <br />County committee and then to Met Council .staff. Then we should have <br />a good idea if it will fly, <br />
