-3-
B. Development
We have asked why the people involved in the planning process have
not incorporated the 1976 park survey results into the plan. This
park development survey by far indicated the people of New Brighton
desired a lesser developed park than is now proposed.
C. Security
For many years there have been ~.~a~thefts of personal property from
Long Lake property owners. This is partly because the L.L.I.A. has
acted in part as its own policing force. This year however, there
was an increase in loss incidence. This could be attributed to the
increased access to the lake this year through the existing beach
area.
The potential security problem is a concern of the L.L.I.A. We
feel the planning commission should address this problem and pro-
vide the L.L.I.A. with reasonable options to be considered.
D. Lake Water Craft Population
The proposed improved launching area and suggested canoe rental
facility will increase the number of water craft units on Long Lake
during the summer season. We feel the increased population of
water craft may very well create a water safety problem. We are
concerned, and we feel the planning commission should address
this problem as they consider boat launching and canoe rental
facilities.
The L.L.I.A. has offered its services in the development of the proposed park.
Several members of this association now are members of the Citizens Advisory
Group to the Planning Commission. This is a progressive step, however, there
are questions yet to be answered. This is best accomplished with good
communications between the planning groups and the residents of New Brighton.
LONG LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Q C~~.~
Patricia Commers, President
