NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />SEPTEMBER 2, 1981 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 8:40 p.m. by Acting Chairperson Dahl. <br />II. Members present: Carlson,. Dahl, Grimshaw, Johnson. Hogan arrived at <br />7:45, Olson at 8:00 and Van Hatten at 8:05. Council Representative <br />Steve Schmidt arrived at 7:40. <br />Members absent: Gunderman, Solberg <br />III. Minutes of August 13, 1981 were approved as submitted. <br />Anderson informed everyone present that the Long Lake Survey tabulation <br />sent with the September agenda was inaccurate and should be destroyed. <br />The correct tabulation survey will be mailed out. <br />IV. Council Report <br />Schmidt said the Council had approved the initial purchase of .playground <br />equipment for Sunny Square. Earl F. Anderson was awarded the bid.. The <br />Walburn property was discussed - a continuation from the public hearing. <br />There was discus ion on how the land should be divided - Dick Bury wants <br />it to be heavy industrial but the City does not. City: staff and 'the <br />applicant are working on a plan. The tax increment financing plan was. <br />approved. City will go ahead with the Downtown Development. Very little <br />interest was expressed at the meeting regarding development. The Long <br />Lake Joint Powers Agreement was authorized at the last Council meeting. <br />The Council also looked at development proposals north of Minnesota <br />Federal. A preliminary plan to build 40 quad homes was discussed. There <br />was alot of opposition.- The plan. failed. There was also ..discussion on <br />rezoning from Rl to R2. The Council also discussed the Palmer lounge. <br />The City has authorized. bids and construction specifications.. .Bids should <br />be in on the 10th and the Council will hold a special meeting on the 15th. <br />There have been additions made such as a food preparation room to be used <br />to prepare small lunches and for wine tasting parties. The Council is <br />almost unanimously in favor of the lounge. -The revenue from the lounge <br />may help the City with finances. The capacity of the lounge is about <br />90 .people. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Appointments - Long Lake Master Planning Committee <br />Anderson stated the Park Board has five applicants from non-Long Lake <br />residents from which three w l be chosen. <br />The three chosen from Long Lake Assn. are: Pat Commers, Jim <br />Borgstrom and Marv Cook.- <br />Anderson gave a bit of background on the five applicants and stated <br />that all were well qualified to be committee members. <br />Dahl said that even if the applicants were-picked geographically <br />it would be a hard decision. <br />
