NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES
JUNE 3, 1981
I. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gunderman at 7:30 p.m.
II. Members present: Carlson, Dahl, Gunderman, Hogan, Olson, Solberg,
.Van Hatten, Council Representative Schmidt
Members absent: Grimshaw, Johnson arrived 8:20
III. Correction. to the Minutes of May 6, 1981 are as follows
(VII. Announcements)
Motion by Johnson, seconded. by Van Hatten, to recommend to
the Council that thank you letters be sent to the Girl Scouts
and Brownies-for their help with the New Brighton clean up.
Motion passed.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Schmidt said-the Rice Creek Watershed disposal site was
approved. Material and labor for the. Golf Course electrical
work was approved. There was final approval given on the con-
dominiums on County Road E and Silver Lake Road - 80 units.
There was a proposal for condominiums next to UOP on the Rush
Lake site. The Council did not feel the proposal was consis-
tent with the comprehensive plan and suggested the developer
come back with similar proposal for offices.
V. New Business
A. Long Lake (Update)
Anderson said he went to Met Council with our proposal.. Before
the Monday morning meeting, Perovich went down to the Ramsey
County Public Works Committee for a meeting. The Public Works
Committee backed down from their original stand and said they
would like to negotiate with New Brighton. Perovich stated that
Ramsey County was in fact interested in being involved with
Long Lake so why was New Brighton requesting implementing agency
status. The item was tabled for two weeks or until further
development. Anderson and the Mayor decided not to do a thing
until the County. makes a proposal. About 4:00 this afternoon
Anderson was given a draft proposal from Ramsey County which .has
not been reviewed yet, By the July Park Board meeting there
should be something concrete from Ramsey County. If something
comes of it, fine - otherwise we`ve lost a month of time.
Solberg commented-that Perovich was vehemently against anyone
but the County being implementing agency.
Gunderman said he and Johnson spoke with Perovich and expressed
the view that New Brighton will not wait years -.let's get the
job done. If Ramsey County won't,-Anoka County will. There are
advantages to Anoka County with the trail systems. An alterna-
tive would be making New .Brighton implementing agency..
