June 3, 1981 Park Board Minutes Page 5 Gunderman thought perhaps this time we could do something very general and then give a more detailed tour at a later date for New Brighton people. Carlson felt that it should be publicized in advance-that there will be transportation available for the elderly.. Solberg asked if the transportation would be free. Gunderman said he is not in favor.. of the handicapped transportation. at this time.. Maybe at a later date. Schmidt commented that if .this is a success .this year, it may be done again. Anderson feels. it should be kept simple. There is not much time. There-should be a self-guided map. Johnson asked if a path would be dragged for people to follow. Anderson said they will just use the road. Carlson suggested putting a sign on a post. Anderson said a map would be good. Gunderman said Anderson will put together the map. Fornell said he was not in favor of having horses,. etc. because of the liability, and insurance involved. He also was concerned with-having any motorized. vehicles for the same. reasons. Solberg asked how long this, has been in the planning. Schmidt said about 2-3 weeks..- He said everything was put to- gether at-the meeting at Hedman`s house a few weeks ago. Solberg said maybe some of the Park Board members could attend these meetings. VIL. Old Business A. Bankers Land Site :(:Update) The Park Board recommended the land. be leased. The Council decided to sell the land. Ramsey County stated the-land could not be sold. The money used to buy the golf course was money set aside for in-hold use. The money is restricted for Parks. and Open Space purposes.. There is a provision stating a right to lease or rent-the Clubhouse, however, the law and the provision appear to be in conflict with each other. We may be able to sell the land in 1998 when the City has the title.
