<br />r <br />NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />MAY 6, 1981 <br />~. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairperson Gunderman. <br />II. Members present: Carlson, Dahl, Grimshaw, Gunderman, Hogan, Johnson, <br />Olson, Van Hatten <br />Members absent: Solberg, Council Representative Schmidt <br />ITI. Minutes of April 1, 1981 Meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. .Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Representative Schmidt was not present but spoke briefly <br />with Gunderman before the meeting. <br />Gunderman stated the Council had approved $5,000 for Long Lake <br />clean up and an additional $2,000 for the oil clean up. <br />There were four Council members in favor of the puppet wagon and <br />the Mayor was against it. It was dropped from the agenda for <br />the April 28th meeting. <br />The Council did not feel the spacenet was a good choice for the <br />Basic Industries donation and asked the Park Board to look at <br />other alternatives. <br />• Anderson said the clean up will take place within the next 2-3 <br />. weeks. He has noticed less recreational vehicle use in the park. <br />Carlson said beer parties have been going strong. The squads <br />could not get in there to patrol but they have been able to re- <br />cently. <br />B. Long Lake Dredging - Dewatering Sites <br />Anderson said Ramsey County Watershed District will be doing <br />dredging in the north pond (.lagoon). The Watershed District has <br />identified areas they will be taking from. The Watershed District <br />was then contacted and the deposit areas were discussed and some <br />changes made. One disposal site would be up on the. hill (designated <br />group picnic area). They will make an embankment and pump the <br />water in. It will take one to two years before the soil can be <br />used as top soil. The water is not expected to stay long. There <br />will also be sand taken which will come from the mouth of the creek; <br />where it enters the lake. There will be a total of 35,000 cubic <br />yards of material deposited. <br />Johnson asked what was being done in the narrows area. <br />Anderson said that as far as he knows they will remove the posts <br />. and that's all.- <br />Van Hatten asked why the dredging project was taking place. <br />
