NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD
MINUTES
APRIL 1, 1981
I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairperson Gunderman.
II. All members were present.
III. Minutes of .March. 3, 198.1 meeting were approved as submitted.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Schmidt explained that the Council had approved the funding for
clean up at Long Lake. The Council also approved the concept plan
and the. park name.- Meadow Wood. Schmidt also informed .the Park
Board that the new City Manager had been hired. His name is Jim
Fornell from St. Anthony. He will begin May 18th.
Anderson also mentioned that-the Council did approve the joint.
Forester position with Mounds View; 60% New Brighton, 40% Mounds
View. Anderson said he is very happy because now we can. keep a
good man who would have otherwise been through this year.. He wil
spend 3 days in New Brighton and 2 days in Mounds View.
V. New Business
A. Walburn Industrial Park Preliminary Plat
The .Board of Review was present at the Park Board meeting to dis-
cuss with the Park Board and the applicant, Dick Bury, the pre-
liminary plat. Dale Hebeisen of Hult and Associates was also present.
Gunderman stated Walburn had been discussed at the last meeting.
Archer passed around a new plan for review. Archer stated the
differences were t'h~ street 'which now .goes through the old gas station
and the outlot configuration.: Archer expressed concern with integrating
Beisswenger's with this plot. There will be no loading parking, etc.
in the front yard. Alignment is forcing development toward the park.
Parcel #3 has not yet been considered. There are a number of issues
that are stl'1 missing., Because of this, the lateness, change of
street, etc..Archer requested. that this be considered a concept dis-
cussion only.
Gunderman commented that parcels #2 & #3 were being looked at for
secondary access. City is working with Ramsey County for access but
this is one way to get to the park without Ramsey County.
A Board of Review member asked if the funds for the park were just
for Long Lake or .for-both Long Lake and Rush Lake..
Gunderman responded for both.. The battle with Ramsey County is
operation and maintenance. There was a meeting last night trying
to break the log jam. It mould be a tremendous advantage to provide
a second access.
