February 3, 1981 Park Board Minutes
Page 6
Anderson commented: that at the last Council meeting 4 new
lots were acquired:.
Carlson said he didn't know where #4 came from regarding land
being-left natural - not built upon.
Anderson said from the City's Comprehensive Plan.
Schmidt recalled that the information-.being referred to came.
from the City Planning Department.
Anderson stated that he will take the philosophy section that
Gunderman did and redo this. section of the Comprehensive Plan
and have it returned to the Park Board at the next meeting.
The next part of the plan was the section contained. maps of
each .park.
Dahl commented that Silver Oaks and Silver Oak are used. It
should be determined which is correct.
Carlson. asked why Long Lake was not included in the map section.
It is referred to frequently during the plan. He felt a map
of some sort should be included.
Anderson stated the reason he did not include it is because it
is designated as a regional park. This is a Municipal Compre-
hensive Park Plan. Unless this changes-and .until it does,
Anderson feels it is not appropriate. When and if it is de-
termined as a community park., then. yes, it will belong.
Carlson felt maybe an outline of the Lake with a brief descrip-
tion could be included. This is a very critical item to the.
residents.
Olson agreed that it should be acknowledged..
Anderson. stated he would include an outline of the Long Lake
property showing Ramsey County's portion. also and include ex-
planation to-what is happening.
Grimshaw suggested putting schools on the map, -along with the
parks already shown so their position in the City can be shown.
Johnson suggested adding "Rice Creek" to the maps as long as
one for Long Lake would be done.
Anderson said he could do that.
Van Hatten stated he liked the bordering streets being noted
on. the maps.
Van Hatten suggested indicating the old. Hipp House on the Long
Lake map. He f-eels it would be of interest to many people.
Think about it any way. Maybe show where they are digging
for Indian artifacts also.
