January 7', 1981 Park Board Minutes Page 2 Anderson stated that Long Lake Park Planning is on hold until Ramsey County takes a move. At that point the Park .Board will get direction from the Council. Benke said the Citizens Study Committee will be holding a Community Leaders Workshop on February 28th. A town meeting format will be used with major item updates planned. Long Lake Park Planning could be one of the issues discussed. C. City Goal-Setting Anderson handed out a memo of the Council workshop notes of December 29th. He wants the Park Board to look it over and make comments, additions, etc. Benke briefly described some of the objectives listed in the memo. ('a hl n TAT The process is moving .along well. All cities originally interested are still involved. Solid Waste Management The State has a Solid Waste. Management Board. Each county lists sites they may have for waste disposal. New Brighton potentially has none because it does not have the 6 acre required area. Police Action Plan Implementation This would be a reevaluation of all Police activity from top to bottom. The Council has asked for recommendation to do some specific things. Housing Needs Assessment Look at the needs for housing, try to find another Palmer Drive(Senior housing). Look it over and see where we are at and what the. needs of,.the future will be. Management Systems Improvement This is an ongoing project by the City Manager and the Council. There is a Management Skills session planned for the next four Tuesdays instituted by the Human Rights Commis- sion. It includes human relation skills. City Facilities Review (..Land & Buildings) A look at what kind of facilities as-far as building space. What to do if Park & Rec. moved back to City Hall, What is storage-space available at the Maintenance Building. Financial Status Survey Look at the long range fiscal trends that affect the City.
