r
~~~
1~~~ ~~~~~~~ `~-James P. DeBenedet, PEE.
Engineering Consultant
(612) 636-9083
January 31, 1980
Richard Ernst
2100 Silver,,Lake Road
New Brightoh, MN 55112
,-
Dear Dick:
At the January meeting of the New Brighton park board, we
presented our drainage for ,,Park Place. The board heard our pre-
. sentation and asked us to prepare drawings for six alternates
for drainage to be considered at their next meeting. The neigh-
borhood will be invited to the next meeting to provide input as
to the intended use of the park.
The six alternatives are briefly discussed below.
1. Grade the entire park site to a low elevation for
stormwater detention. Slope the bottom at a 1%
slope from east to -~rest side.
This alternative will meet all criteria for storm-
water control set forth by the Llatershed District.
It will have r~inimal impact on the usefulness of
the park. It may involve substantial cost for
excavation but you indicate that others are willing
to remove the sand at no cost to you.
2. Provid~,25%. of ~the required ponding in the park and
75% in tF~ rest of the development.
This--requires that most of the back yards and other
green areas by the homes and condominiums be used for
...ponding. This is highly undesirable. It would de-
grade the development and result in wet basements.
kx
