Anderson feels <br />it is very unlikely. We have to let the County take a position <br />so at least there is a position to work from. <br />Gunderman said in looking at it he is convinced this. proposal will <br />not work and feels the City should be~looking at other alternatives. <br />Carlson felt we couldn't go off in another tangent because we don't <br />know what the stand is. Carlson would like the Council to take <br />the stand Anderson suggested. . <br />Anderson stated the County'Board has never really stated what they <br />would like to do with the park. He stated their decision is impor- <br />tant because it would act as a pilot for all other regional sites <br />in the County. <br />Gunderman asked how the City could take a stand on something we <br />don't agree on. <br />Dahl stated there is,nothing to take a stand on. <br />Gunderman asked for clarification on what the Manager was asking <br />of the Council. <br />Anderson said he wants the Council to give.: him .direction on strategy <br />for negotiating with the County; how the City should proceed. <br />Dahl feels we are not. in a position to negotiate until we have <br />something official. <br />s <br />Gunderman suggested- the Park Board state its. purpose is`to discuss <br />strategy. The technical content was not appropriate and .the Park <br />Board took no position. <br />Dahl does not want to negotiate until something official. is received <br />from tYie County Board. <br />Carlson stated New Brighton needs people at the County meeting to <br />respond to how the City feels. <br />Grimshaw stated that if the City took a stand at this point, it <br />would be doing exactly what the County wants. <br />Benke arrived at the meeting after be~.ng absent and the Park Board <br />asked him what the Long Lake Council item really. was that was to <br />be discussed. Was it strategy for negotiation or discussion of <br />the draft proposal? <br />Benke stated it was his understanding that comment and discussion <br />of the draft would take place. <br />Gunderman said we are not'~giving them a chance to react.. <br />
