November 12, 1980 Park Board Minutes
Fage 6
Hogan favored Hansen as #1 but only if it could all be complete
if not, he would prefer Sunny Square be done.
Gunderman stated they would have to assume that each project could
be completed.
Hogan then favored Hansen as #l.
Carlson favored Hansen as #l. He felt it hard to separate from
park signing but we have made a commitment to residents. He also
feels it should be all or nothing.
Johnson favored Park Signing as #l. He is afraid that Hansen may
use all the money and a small project such as signing wouldn't get
done. He would divide the Hansen Park work into different segments
and do parts at a time.
Dahl favored Park Signing as #l, Hansen #2.
Carlson asked Anderson if a commitment had been made to residents
regarding the signing. and bouying on Long Lake this summer. Wants
to do things we have already committed ourselves to.
Anderson said he should have enough money in the budget for 1980
to cover that project.
Anderson stated that the Hansen prQ~~~~ could be in segments; th~
parking lot one time, play area another, etc.
The prioritized list made from the previous discussion is as follows:
1. Hansen Park Renovation
2. Park Signing
3. Renovate Sunny Square Play Area
4. Hansen Drainage Improvement
5. Long Lake Park Site Work
6. Long Lake Park Fencing
Dahl and Johnson stated they were willing to split the work at Hansen
if necessary.
Carlson, Hogan, Dahl stated they will try to make it to the budget'
hearing.
VI. Old Business
A. Comprehensive Plan
ti
Anderson stated he went through the Blaine plan (which the Park
Board had stated they liked as a model) and through the Metro
Council plan (because our plan will be reviEwed by Metro Council)
to .formulate an outline for the New Brighton plan.
Some of the items may have to wait. For instance, item #3 of the
outline will have to wait until census results are available in
February.
