r <br />'September 3, 1980 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 9 <br />Harcus asked how soon they would see grass/weed cover in the skating <br />area. <br />Anderson. said not to .bet on it next summer. <br />Harcus stated with .the trail system the broken glass will have to <br />be cleaned up about once a.week. <br />Anderson stated abetter job will. be done of picking up glass. <br />A resident asked if there was any possibility of drinking fountains <br />and satellites being installed. <br />Anderson stated a satellite is usually at-the south end by ball dia- <br />mond #3 but.there wasn't this .year because the field was not in use. <br />Drinking fountains are hard-to keep working because :of vandalism <br />A picnic pavilion is planned in the south end. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Van Hatten, that the Park Board recommend <br />to the Council the Hansen Park proposal as it is. Motion passed. <br />Harcus asked if the Council will approve .the whole plan or will they <br />reject it if one item is rejected. <br />Anderson said no. They can approve the plan-with the exception of <br />certain items. <br />Anderson said anyone interested in the Hansen Park plans should attend <br />the Council .meeting the end of September. <br />Gunderman stated he feels good about-the Hansen-Park plans being <br />approved.. He feels it is a great improvement over years past when. <br />people were against parks and wanted only passive, natural areas. <br />He feels this is great when. residents propose nog changes - staff <br />is doing a good job. <br />Benke encouraged the .Park Board members to be a t the budget hearing. <br />Carlson asked what. had been done on the Long Lake fencing. <br />Anderson said he is waiting for. the .County to make a decision on its <br />role in Long Lake Park. They may be coming to a decision in September. <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m. <br />
