August 13, 1980 Park Board Meeting Page 7 <br />B. Long Lake Park. Status <br />Benke stated that Ramsey County may be ready to commit themselves <br />to development in Long Lake/Rush Lake. <br />Anderson stated the County will respond. to the City's resolution <br />in about September. No need for New Brighton to do anything now. <br />until the County makes a decision. <br />Benke.. said.-the Park Board. will ,be notified as soon as they-hear <br />from Ramsey County. <br />Anderson said the.Park Board should be present at the meetings <br />when. this is discussed. It will go to two committees before <br />it does to the ful Board. <br />Gunderman stated. he and several Park Board members took a tour <br />of Ramsey County`s proposed regional parks. <br />Dahl. felt the meeting with Salverda was interesting. <br />Benke commented that it was the Council's suggestion that the <br />Park Board come up with a minimum development concept plan. <br />This plan would be based on the idea-that no money would be <br />coming in and New Brighton-would have to operate. and .maintain. <br />the Long Lake site. <br />Benke stated there are many ways of generating funds. if residents <br />want to pay. <br />Anderson mentioned-the Park and.Recreatiom survey response was <br />low - 4.3%. <br />On the Long Lake questions, t h e tallies-were about 55 for <br />City operating & maintaining the Long Lake site,..-55 for <br />County.operating.and maintaining the-Long Lake .site and <br />165 for shared City and County operation of Long Lake.. <br />Benke stated the results support what we thought. <br />Gunderman tated since the survey had such low response it is <br />not accurate and therefore should not :be used as statistics. <br />VII. Announcements <br />A. Council Report (:Municipal Liquor Store.- Long Lake) <br />Benke stated the funding will impact on CIP for parks.. At the <br />last Council meeting plans for the new .liquor store weredis- <br />cussed. The liquor store is revenue produced for many funds. <br />The existing facility is an .eye sore. The liquor store is a <br />high priority item. Construction cost has-not been definitely <br />set. <br />
