Johnson naye. <br />Dahl said she is not ready to say we don't want any kind of <br />walkway. The idea is nice to keep the pedestrians away from <br />the traffic. We do need to maximize the area but it seems <br />there may. be some other possible ways of doing it;for instance <br />cutting the berm off a little earlier (toward the north. Likes <br />the rest of the motion. hikes the entrance where it is and the <br />free skating and picnic area where they are but not ready to <br />say the des~.gn of the actual parking area should or shouldn't <br />be as shown. <br />Van Hatten added to the motion, and Aahl seconded, that alterna- <br />tives to the park~.ng lot be seen before a final decision by <br />the Park aoard is made, <br />Van Hatten would also like to see: existing heavy structures, <br />' such as the sign and streets, shown on the map. <br />Carlson commented that if the berm is eliminated, we will be <br />at the same point now with people driving through. Could the <br />sidewalk be moved to the west outside edge of the parking lot <br />and thew put a crosswalk with stop signs at .the entrance before. <br />~.t aome~ into the parking lot itself. <br />Anderson .said another possibility would be to move the berm <br />grass area into the center. you wouldn't lose many parking <br />spaces that way. <br />Grimshaw asked if this was being done to funnel people to the <br />ball fields. <br />Anderson responded yes. <br />Carlson said the cars are now going up the hill. If that's the <br />case, would it be good tp do something to discourage it.
