Also for
liability reasons it would be a good idea to get the fence up.
Motion by Carlson, seconded by Hogan, to suggest that the Long
Lake fencing be done in 1980 with .the stipulation of it being
put in 1981-if not 1980. (With the above reasons in mind).
Motion passed.
Benke asked what could be done, along with fencing, to make the
park usable for cross country skiing.
Anderson stated the Maintenance Department has plans for a groomer
for cross country trails this winter.
Benke asked if a parking .facility will be needed.
Anderson stated he wouldn't know where to put one and doesn't
think. it's necessary. Skiers will have to-come in from the west
side.
Carlson suggested putting posts in along with the fence to eliminate
parking on the grass.
Benke asked if anything has transpired for Long Lake oil cleanup.
.Anderson said it-is planned to have it cleaned up but waiting for
word from PCA. No idea of the cost at this time. It should be
acknowledged somewhere that. the money will be spent in 1981.
C. Anderson stated
that the ingredients for.Hansen Park need to be known to get a
start: No final concept plan needs to be finished at this time
but-we need an idea of what will be done for budget purposes. The
road is one of the main issues. Need direction in what way to go.
It will be brought back in July.and resolved in :August or September.
The deadline is this winter so things can get done next summer for
bid letting, etc. Anderson stated he has nothing to present -
just needs ideas from everyone.
Dahl stated, the biggest problem 'is with the parking:. lot and-roadway
area (west side).. Also concern with trails and free skating. With
all the .work being done, could the skating be moved to the pond?
