June 4, 1980 Park Board Minutes Page 5 <br />Anderson said it's too far from the shelter building: Ponds are <br />more of a hassle than if one was built. <br />Dahl stated the entrance to Hansen Park is not visually a good <br />one. More trees, shrubs, etc. are needed. <br />Anderson stated shrubs have been planted and-there are trees <br />there. <br />Anderson commented that the soccer field :.was graded and .seeded <br />and part of it sunk. It was regraded and seeded and then it <br />sunk again. <br />Anderson said the new free skating area may be a maintenance problem. <br />Dahl said if a small free skating area-was left around.-the building, <br />another one could be put in further away. <br />Grimshaw asked if the Watershed District or any other group was <br />requesting work done at Hansen Park. <br />Anderson-said there is no group pushing for anything to be done <br />but before anything can go in, the parking lot has to be done. <br />That will3help-make some decision on the free skating. <br />Dahl asked if the free skating could be moved to the playground <br />area. <br />Anderson. commented there would not be enough room. <br />Greg Harcus, 1620 Sioux, resident in the Hansen Park area stated <br />that the resident s.. he has talked to support most of what has been <br />talked about. They support the playground and free skating.. <br />Mayor Senden is the only one who is opposed-to the propo.salsa The <br />only thing the residents are opposed to is the new entrance. <br />Hansen Park area resident Darle Sylvester., 1619 5th St., stated <br />he watches Hansen Park parking lot in the spring and summer and <br />the lot is handling the cars:well... "No parking" signs should be <br />posted - cars are parking along the stree but there is no need to. <br />Anderson stated that if the parking lot were striped that would <br />help.. .Size is adequate. <br />A resident.also stated "no parking" signs should be posted along <br />the driveway.. <br />Anderson stated speed:bumps may be an effective way to control <br />the traffis in the parking lot. They are-nota maintenance problem. <br />Carlson stated Turtle Lake has speed bumps but the kids. are. driving <br />on the grass to avoid them. Posts could be put-in to alleviate <br />that problem. <br />
