NEV+7 BRIGHTON PARK BOARD
MINUTES
MAY 7, 1980
I. Meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m.
II. Members present: Carlson, Dahl, Grimshaw, Gunderman, Johnson, Olson,
Van Hatten
.absent: Hogan, Westling, Council Rep. Benke
III. Minutes of April 2, 1980 Meeting
The minutes of April 2, 1980 were corrected by Van Hatten on page 9,
para. 9 to read l/2 mile, rather than 2 miles.
IV. Correspondence
None
V. New Business
A. Long Lake Status Report
Anderson sent out information to the Park Board so that they
would know what the Council will be discussing at their next
meeting. The Council wi1.1 be giving the County feedback on
what the City wants. The Council has not yet taken a stand
on what kind of involvement the City would like. The County's
rough draft will be submitted on May 19th. The total regional
park issue will be looked at on May 27th.
Gunderman asked for comments.
Dan Knuth of the Planning Commission stated he has been following
Ramsey County's land condemnation case involving Richard Miller.
It will be going to trial on the 28th of May.
Carlson stated he was concerned with the City Manager's feelings
that the Long Lake park site should be maintained by Ramsey County.
Residents will be paying but Ramsey County is operating. The
Manager appears to be in disagreement with everything the Park
Board has been working toward.
Grimshaw stated he gets the same feeling .and it is obvious that
he does not agree with the Park Board.
Carlson feels maybe the Manager should receive something from the
Park Board stating how it feels and to reaffirm its position.
Anderson felt the Council should be aware of the fact that the
Park Board hasn't changed-its stand. It maybe .helpful for the
Council to be aware of the Park Board's feelings..
Carlson. really questions the idea of just getting out of the agree-
ment with Ramsey County, especially after years of work.
