ti
March 5, 1980 Park Board Minutes Page 10
The Blaine Comprehensive Park Plan interested the New Brightce
Park Board the most. This will be the one the Park Board will
use as a model.
Anderson introduced Pamela.. Schmitz the new Program Supervisor
for the Park and Recreation Department.
VII. Announcements
A. Planning Commission Re: St. Judes Medical 3/6/80
Benke stated that St. Jude's would be discussed at the next
Council meeting about 8:00 p.m. and encouraged the Park Board
members to attend.
B. Joint Council/Park Board Meeting
The meeting will be held to discuss joint concerns.
Benke stated that he forgot to metion earlier when he was
discussing Council summary that the Council considered, as
part of the CIP for-19'80, a pond dredging project at Totem
Pole. The cost of dredging and access was much more of an
investment than originally thought. Inversion is another
method using an air pump that accelerates the natural growth •
of a pond, therefore cleaning the pond. The Council is
asking staff to talk to homeowners and ask their response
to this alternative to dredging. This process is much
cheaper than dredging and is very successful.
Nestling asked if the pump runs during the winter and spring.
Benke replied yes.
Van Hatten asked how many pumps are needed.
The response was that it depends on the size of the pond.
Benke stated this is just in the exploratory stage.
Hogan stated that the Park Board party had been cancelled
due to conflicts and asked the Park Board if they wanted to
reschedule it.
Anderson felt that a bike trip along the trails at Elm Creek
might be an idea. The Park Board could look at the area for
ideas in New Brighton.
VIII. Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 10:50 p.m..•
