March 5, 1980 Park Board Minutes: Page 6
Van Hatten stated he had no intention of excluding those •
alternatives.
B. Basic Industries Gift
Van Hatten stated that it may be proper to wait and use
the $2,000 gift for the joint powers agreement development
money.
Johnson felt it should be for some kind of equipment.
Gunderman would like to see the Frisbee Golf game put in at
Hansen Park with Basic Industries gift of $2,000. Normally
the cost for a 9 hole Frisbee Golf game is $4,000 but the
company that builds the game has a grant and will sell it for
half price. It's a fun activity. All it takes is a Frisbee.
South Hansen would be a good area for its location. It would
take very little maintenance and is vandal resistant.
Comments from the Park Board were all positive toward the
Frisbee Golf game. It would be good public relations for
Basic Industries and something the Park and Recreation Dept.
would not normally purchase.
Motion by Dahl, seconded by Westling, to spend Basic Indus-
tries $2,000 gift on Frisbee Golf. Motion passed. •
C. Community Leaders Workshop
Dahl expressed concern that John Grau's memo stated that
he had received no reply from Boards and Committees re-
garding suggestions made at the last Community Leaders
Workshop, when in fact it was discussed at the Park Board
Meeting.
Anderson stated he had informed John Grau of the Park Board's
feelings and stated John is presently interested in the
Boards and Corrmissions.thoughts as to the upcoming workshop
format and content'.
Gunderman stated that last year the discussions were good
and there was good follow through, but people tended to go
to their own area.
Benke said that two years ago numbers were assigned to de-
termine which group you belonged to. Benke mentioned that
the committee is looking for topics for the workshop.
Dahl thought perhaps there was something in the Comprehensive
Park Plan that could be used; ideas for needs assessment, etc.
Gunderman said he would like a survey or questionnaire sent
to committees rather than residents to get their input. (Th*
could be done anytime,.not necessarily for the workshop.)
