yBoard of Review
Regular Meeting
November 20, 1979
Page #6
Gary Polackzyk, 187 17th Avenue S.W., stated that he preferred
a wider access to watch the children in the park and provide more
safety. He desired fencing around the park area, was concerned
about overall neighborhood density, and adequate access to the
park.
Sue Hardman, 240 Oakwood Drive, noted that a number of area
children use the hill for sliding. She felt it was important to
retain the sliding area. The area where the single family homes
are proposed has always been considered a part of the park..
Commissioner Livingston asked the applicant from what direction
would the garages face.
Mr. Cadwallader, stated the garages would be entered from the
N~~St.
Sue Hardman, stated she didn't really want the single family homes
for a buffer.
Commissioner Williams inquired about private space for the
residents of the condominium.
The applicant noted that he was uncertain about the area until the
park issue is resolved.
Laura Fruth, 1729 3rd Street S.W. felt that the sliding area. should
be fenced off.
Mr. Swenson commented that the sliding area should be retained
and that he would rather have a different type of development
because he was concerned over density in the area.
Mr. Cadwallader stated that the residents in the condominium would
have an association with bylaws and before these persons purchased
a unit it would be very .clear to them which areas are public. He
voiced a concern over describing the park property. He felt that
it is not desirable to have the park boundaries right outside the
building because of the development limitations that would be
created.
Mr. Polackzyk felt that the garages should be on the west side of
the building and felt that the City and the developers should
consider moving some dirt and possibly some equipment to make
the best use of the land.
Sandra Poffenberger asked if there were any plans for a hockey rink.
