May 15, 1979 <br />Sec. 19-36. Motorized Vehicles on Lake Surface Ice. <br />a. Speed limit. No person shall operate a motorized <br />vehicle in excess of 30 miles per hour. <br />(This provision is designed to reduce automobile <br />speed on ice and to provide penalties for violators.) <br />b. Distance . No person shall operate a motorized <br />vehicle in excess of eight miles per hour within.. <br />one hundred fifty feet of any fisherman, fish <br />house, pedestrian, skier, skater, skating rink, <br />where such operation would endanger other persons <br />or property. <br />c. No person shall operate a motorized vehicle unless <br />headlights and taillights are illuminated.- <br />(These provisions are designed to reduce the potential <br />for accidents on the ice, and for easier enforcement, <br />are identical to the snowmobile ordinance.) <br />Sec. 19-37. <br />The Director of Parks and Recreation or the City <br />rianager, upon determining that there is probable danger <br />- to persons or property, may close the. lake surface to all <br />recreational use by posting notice of such order. <br />(This provision is designed to allow for closing of the lake <br />in the event of a hazardous .condition in existence such as <br />the DDT spill of 1978.) <br />Sec. 19-38. Violations of the Minnesota Waters and Water- <br />craft Safety Laws and Boat and Water Safety .Rules and Reg- <br />. ulations Promulgated by the Minnesota Department of <br />,Natural Resources. <br />Any person violating the Minnesota Waters and Water- <br />craft Safety Laws and the Boat and Water Safety Rules and <br />Regulations promulgated by the Minnesota Department of <br />-- Natural Resources; adopted and incorporated herein by- <br />- reference, shall be subject to the penalties and punish- <br />ment hereinafter. provided. -- - - <br />(This provision is designed to provide for enforcement of <br />state watercraft laws by city and county officials.) <br />
