r. s • <br />PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />May ~-, 1977 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 8'00 P.M. by Chairperson <br />Gunderman. <br />II. Members present: .Andreotti, Blomquist, Dahl, Gunderman, Kern, <br />Olson, Westling and Council-Representative Senden. <br />Board members a,bsent° Cook and Smith. <br />~ Special order of Business4 Chairperson Gunderman presented <br />Don Gzeissrnan with a pla.cque in appreciation for his many <br />,years of service with the board. <br />III, Minutes of the April 6th meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence -None. <br />V. Unfinished Business <br />A. Long Lake Planninge Staff reviewed current planning and <br />indicated that the process was on schedule. <br />B. Brightwood Hills Golf Coursee <br />Chairperson Gunderman read a letter from the City Manager <br />requesting a statement from the board on the possible <br />acqusition of the course. Dahl stated that she favored <br />purchase as long as other park projects were not negatively <br />impacted. <br />.Andreotti stated that as a tax payer he wanted to first <br />know that the course could support itself and that all <br />possible contingencies were covered. Motion by Dahl <br />seconed by Kern that the board supports the concept of a <br />publicly owned golf course - Motion passed , Andreotti <br />abstained. Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Dahl that <br />the board conditions its approval on the stipulation that <br />acqusition and operation of the course will not have a <br />negative impact on existing operating and Capital <br />Improvement budgets. Motion passed. <br />Motion by Andreotti seconded by ~~ern requesting a <br />stipulation that the operation of the curse be reviewed <br />at two year intervals to determine the feasibility of <br />continued operation as a golf course. Motion passed. <br />New Bus ines~s <br />A. League of I~?omen Voters - Joanne Dandenell reviewed <br />the leagues involvement with New Brighton Parks. <br />B. Minnesota Department of Transportation - Motion by <br />Andreotti seconded by Kern that the board feels there <br />should be design consideration for pedestrian a.nd bicycle <br />traffic, especially access routes on Lake Lake Rd. and <br />Old Highway 8 freeway bridges. Motion passed. <br />
