Board of Review -4- <br />Mr. Ray Pouliot, 2200 Greenview Drive,. stated that he felt the <br />City should have a feasibility made to determine if it could be <br />retained as a golf course, Mr. Pouliot stated that New Brighton <br />has nothing on the north end of town to match the golf course for <br />recreation purposes. Mr. Pouliot noted that there are many uses <br />for the golf course during the winter months. Mr. Pouliot <br />stated that the City should check this matter out before they <br />miss the opportunity to retain it as a golf course. <br />Mr. Ken Johnson stated that this may be a project that the <br />New Brighton Citizen's Study Committee could undertake. <br />Chairman Brown stated that he felt the 1974 data should be updated <br />and perhaps, should be referred to the Citizen's Study Committee. <br />Councilman Fisher stated he felt this was an economic question and <br />further questioned what the Citize~:'s Study Committee would do. <br />Mr. Johnson noted that a north New Brighton Homeowner's Association <br />• was being farmed to study this matter. <br />Commissioner Doyle questioned if this were an actual offer to sell <br />and if so, what the price would be. <br />Mr. Dah1e noted that he offered to sell the golf course to the City <br />in 1974 for $600,000. Mr. Dah1e indicated that he is proceeding <br />with the plat in order to establish an alternative to the golf <br />course for his personal estate concerns. <br />Motion by Brown, seconded by Wick land, to ask City Staff to update <br />the 1974 economic data and also request to study the proposed plat. <br />Further, to request that the plat be transmitted to the Park Board <br />for their comments regarding the possibility of the golf course <br />being retained as open space. <br />5 ayes ~ 0 nayes - carried <br />Commissioner Anderson stated that he felt the Board of Review should <br />address the proposed plat. Anderson further stated he felt the <br />small 25 foot strip should be eliminated. <br />Commissioner Doyle indicated he felt the plat perimeter was a <br />problem as the only access is to Silver Lake Road. Doyle noted <br />that this problem has been created by the platting and development <br />of surrounding property, whic h was developed by the applicant. <br />
