. i • <br />-P.-!ARK BOARD MINUTES <br />March 35 1976 <br />I. Meeting was called to order at o-OC pem. by Chairperson Gunderman. <br />II. Board members absent:. Cook ^nd Smith. <br />III. minutes of February ~!-, 1976 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Jaycees - Horseshoe Cour'cs <br />The Jaycees' request to construct ~~ set of horseshoe cour'cs was <br />considered. The Board indicated approval of the .proposal. <br />M . R . P . A.. - Boar d and C ommis s ions T~7orkshop <br />Announcement was made of the March 11th ?~?orkshop. Marv Gook.,. <br />Don T~Teissman and Uart,r Sullivan expressed an interest in attending. <br />Councilman Paul Hardt <br />Councilman H=~rdt commended the Park Board for its diligence over <br />the years and indicated his interes'c developing a good working <br />relationship betti~reen the Board and 'che Council. <br />V. 29th Avenue Park Site <br />Residents from the area were present a.nd were polled regarding <br />their preference of a name for the park. t'fter extensive dis- <br />cussion of over twenty names, the name "Hidden Oaks" was selected. <br />NIotion by Dahl, seconded by Sullivan that the Board recommend ,he <br />name "Hidden Oaks" to the City Council for their ?pproval. 1`dotion <br />1hassed . <br />Staff reviewed building plans with the grou=p~ general approval <br />was indicated. <br />Playground ec!uipmen~~ selection was discussed with a preference <br />for wood structures being expressed. Concern was expressed that <br />'che equipmen'c be located in an area that will be convenient and <br />safe for young children. At the reciuest of the neighborhood group <br />present, the T3oard sta'ced that its intention was that the Park was <br />designed primarily for neighborhood use and that a:ny r_hange in <br />that emphasis would be presented to the neighborhood prior to a <br />decision being made. <br />VI. Silver Oak Development <br />Staff updated the I~oard and interested. residents on negotiations <br />Wltl1 St. Anthony School District 282 regarding use of the school <br />site as a neighborhood park. ~underman expressed concern that the <br />
