PARK BOARD MEETING <br />December ~+, ~.~74 <br />Park Board meeting was called to order at 8005 p.m. <br />Board members presents Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Jasinski, Smith, Sullivan, <br />Weissman and Council Representative Eagon. <br />Others presente James Checco, 1320 N, Pike Lake Court; Joanne Dandanell, <br />League of U?omen Voters9 Jack Eagon9 Park Superintendent; Charles Corlett, <br />Assistant Director and Maurice Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of November 6, 197 were received and <br />approved as written. <br />Agenda additionso New Business - Ice Arena <br />_ Program for Teens <br />_ Expiring Terms for Board Members <br />_ Presentation to Park Superintendent <br />Presentation to Park Superintendent <br />James Skiba, Park Superintendent, received presentation from the Park <br />Board in recognition of the key role played by the Park Maintenance <br />crew in providing park and recreation services to the community. <br />Tax Forfeiture Lands <br />The Department stated that the area located along Old Highvaay 8 is of <br />no value to the City and it appears that Ramsey County will pick up this <br />property. A second tax-forfeited land located near Long Lake has some <br />potential, however, the site has a $5,000 assessment against it. The <br />Department said it would involve a commitment, if this property were to <br />be considered. Dahl felt spending $5,000 for land not needed would be <br />foolish, Smith asked the acreage and was informed that it was approxi- <br />mately 1.8 acres. It was explained that the Park Board's recommendation <br />must go to the City Council prior to December 23, 197+• <br />Motion by Smith: The Foss Road tax forfeiture land be picked up and <br />used for recreational purposes. Seconded by Sullivan.. Motion carries: <br />4 - Ayes 0 - Nayes <br />Motion by Cooko That no action be taken concerning the land north of <br />Long Lake. Seconded by Dahl. Motion carrieso ~ - Ayes 0 - Nayes <br />Salem Covenant Site <br />The Board was informed of the status of the work being done at the pro- <br />posed water treatment site, which is west of the Salem Covenant Church. <br />
