The Board <br />jndicated that the Park Planting Study should includ.a an ongoirsg <br />p:~a,nting ;plan for the City. <br />Discussion of the development site at Silver Oak School in 1977 resulted <br />i.n having the project remain the same. The question ~n7as raised by the <br />Bo~,.:rd a.s to the need for New Brighton to develop the Silver Oak site., <br />It was pointed out by Weissman that the Park Board has indicated i~b~a..~t <br />the site would be developed in the future. The Board asked that file <br />De~~a;°tment look into what the City of St. Anthony and St. Anthony <br />School District intends to develop at the Silver Oak School site <br />Park ~lanting Program - The Board felt that this should be identified <br />as Phase I of an ongoing program. It was suggested by Cook that the <br />alternative of having a local greenhouse or local resident perform this <br />study should be examined. <br />1878 - The Board felt that the park lot at Creek View Park shou~.d be <br />moved to 1976. Discussion as to the need for ornamental footb~idg~~s <br />at Hansen and Creek View Parks resulted in leaving the projects in, <br />however, identifying them as low priority. The ornamental gardens <br />at; Creek View Park should also be identified as low priority. The <br />Board felt that both projects for the Farr property should be deleted <br />and re-inserted as last priority. The Board discusses the possibilities <br />of lighting several areas within parks to promote longer usage of park <br />facilities. -These items included lighting of walk trails or roadway <br />in Hansen Park, lighting of sliding area in Hansen Park and lighting <br />of general play areas in all park facilities. <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Sullivan ~o adopt proposed pa.r~t <br />Capital Improvements Plan with the following changeso <br />X976 1. Tennis courts at Freedom Park should include lights, - <br /> 2. Hard-surface play areas at Hansen Park for court games, <br /> 3. Park Planting Study including a plan for future plantings. <br /> ~+. Parking lot at Creek View Park be moved to 1976. <br />1~;"j l.) Park Planting Program indicates that this is Phase I of <br /> an ongoing program. <br /> 2.) Deletion of development of Farr propert and replace w~_th <br />y <br /> tennis facilities in Totem Pole area - $ <br />28,000. <br /> 3.) Walk-path system in Hansen Park to include lighting of <br /> these paths. <br />1'~'=i 8 l . ) Deletion of development of Farr property and replace with <br /> lighting of park areas to inc?_ude Hansen Park sliding hill, <br /> general play areas in each park and roadway in Hansen Park. <br />Motion carried: 6 Ayes 0 Nayes The Park Board asked that <br />this report be written up as soon as possible by the Department. <br />
