The Board discussed the goals outlined in the'
document as well as the suggestion for implementation. It was noted
that when the document was completed, it should include a classification
of park lands using Metropolitan Council criteria. This would make it
more acceptable to the Metropolitan Council. Dahl suggested that the
proposal of incorporating a dedication provision should be pursued.
Several minor corrections were made to the draft and Dahl moved to approve
the document as corrected. Seconded by Weissman. Motion carried, Dahl,
Sullivan and Smith were appointed to represent the Park Board at the
Planning Commission meeting when the draft is discussed.
Darrell Farr PRD
The recent proposal for development of the Farr property on Silver Lake
Road and I-69~- was reviewed by the Board. The Board had been requested
by the Mayor to consider the Park and Recreation needs of the area and
recommend a method of fulfilling those needs. The Planning Commission
had suggested that 1.OJ of the PRD be set aside for active recreation.
Presently there is no provision for active recreation in the proposed
PRD. The City has 32 acres of land which has been suggested as a possible
park site. The Board discussed the question of how much land is needed
and to what use it should be put. There was concerned express over
whether the park would be open to the public or only to those living in
the Farr development. Other concerns were access to the City property,
