(3) Gunderman stated that he generally agrees with the contents of the report and asked what steps should be taken next. It was determined that discussions with the school district should commence to determine specifics of a location and that firm plans for financing should be developed. Members of the Board held a discussion on the relative merits of organized versus unorganized activities. A concern was expressed that an expensive facility was going to be developed and only a very few would be permitted to use it. It was noted that a facility requiring this kind of investment must be scheduled in order to derive the greatest possible benefit. However, scheduling does preclude ordinary use of a facility by people not belonging to a structured organization. Weissman moved that the report be accepted as submitted. Seconded by Dahl. Motion carries. Dahl moved that the Task Force begin to contact potential user groups to solicit committments concerning financing. Seconded by Cook. Sherlock moved to amend the motion to state that if user groups would not agree to finance 50~ of the fee that further consideration be dropped. Seconded by Hagemeyer. Vote on amendments 2 - ayes Sherlock and Hagemeyer 5 - nayes Amendment fails. Vote on original motion 6 - ayes 1. - nays Sherlock Motion carries. It was requested that a report be brought back to the Board by December 1973. Gunderman noted as a corollary that scheduling of the various athletic seasons was creating a problem. There is so much overlap that children are being forced to make a choice of activity at a very young age. He recommended that this subject be discussed at the September 1973 meeting. Discussion of Goals and Objectives Those Board members who had not submitted written goals and objectives were requested to get them into the Department as soon as possible.
