Motion failed for lack of a <br />second, taeissman moved that the Park Board recommend to the Council <br />that a feasibility study to consider the construction of an ice arena <br />be undertaken to commence at the soonest possible date. Seconded by <br />Smith. Motion carries. Smith was appointed to appear at the Council <br />meeting of October 9 to express the Board's request. <br />Department Report <br />1. The Board was notified that Bexley, Ohio had won the Gold Medal <br />Award for which New Brighton was a finalist. It was stated that <br />the Village would make another attempt in 1974. <br />2. Hagemeyer asked about the repair of the tennis court at Hansen <br />' Park. The Board was notified that monies had been budgeted for <br />a temporary repair in ].974 and that the Council had authorized <br />the attorney to serve notice of suit on the consultant planner <br />in order to obtain damages for a permanent repair at the courts. <br />3. Smith requested that the staff undertake a study of the possibility <br />of the Village operating a hockey program.
