~'
~+. School Rinks - The Department staff has met with school
administrators to discuss the lighting of Irondale's hockey
rink and the development of the Highview Jr. High free skating
rink. Present plans call for the Highview free skating rink
to be developed this summer with the Village doing the
engineering work and the school paying for the construction.
The Department has recommended against lighting the Irondale
hockey rink because of the lack of a shelter facility, the
potential for conflict with school use, and the apparent lack
of need for another hockey rink in that area. The school
administrators have indicated that they will pursue a
cooperative effort with the Village of Moundsview to light
the Edgewood Jr. High rink.
5. Subcommittee Assignments - The Board was informed that the
chairman had two projects for which he wished subcommittees
to be appointed. Smith and Hagemeyer volunteered to study
and report on the Citizens Study Committee's downtown area
proposal. Dahl and Sherlock volunteered to attend-the hearing
on Metropo~.itan Council's Open Space Plan.
Meeting was adjourned at 10°57 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert M. Wicklund
Director of Parks and Recreation
RMwedk
