(3) <br />was. made to include snowmobile trails in the Long Lake park site. <br />Sherlock stated that he was opposed to snowmobiling anywhere as he <br />felt that it was impossible to preserve wildlife and provide for <br />snowmobiling and it eras his opinion that preserving wildlife was <br />more important. <br />Smith moved that the Snowmobile Club propose a trail throughout the <br />entire Village for discussion purposes to be reviewed by the Park <br />Board. <br />Seconded by Weissman. Motion carried. 5 ayes, 1 nave - Sherlock. <br />Review of Goals and Accomplishments <br />Because of the lateness of the hour it was decided this item would <br />be taken up at the Mareh meeting. <br />National Guard Armory <br />Smith stated that he had read in the paper that the Minnesota <br />National Guard had contacted 16 communities, including New Brighton, <br />as to the possibility of constructing a National Guard Armory within <br />their municipalities. <br />Dahl indicated that she felt a National Guard Armory could have <br />possible recreational uses. <br />Smith moved that the Park Board recommend to the Council that the <br />possibility of a National Guard Armory in New Brighton be pursued <br />because of its potential as a community recreation facility. <br />Seconded by Cook. Motion carried. <br />Department Report <br />1. Open Space Meetings - The Board was informed that the Ramsey <br />County Open Space staff was now holding monthly meetings for <br />administrators in the north suburban area. These meetings were <br />to keep the municipalities appraised as to progress on the <br />Open Space S3stem. <br />2. Future Park Sites - Condemnation proceedings have commenced <br />on the two proposed park sites. It is anticipated that they <br />will completed by the first part of May. <br />3. School-Use Policy - The Department has met with school <br />administratores to discuss the proposed revision of District <br />621~s School-Use Policy. The proposed revision is generous <br />in its treatment of municipal Park and Recreation Departments. <br />
