The members stated that they had indications of problems
concerning older boys dominating the hockey rinks and a general lack
of organization. They suggested that more money be budgeted for rink
attendants to create a more structured system of rink use. It was
explained to the Board that the traditional responsibility of rink
attendants was to protect the shelter buildings and further that it
was not typical for older boys to dominate the use of hockey rinks,
a~.though it did occur. However, when dealing with some 30,000 people
over the course of a skating season, problems of this nature were
inevitable under certain circumstances. If it was possible for more
money to be budgeted and a more structured skating program could be
developed, however, there was a question as to whether the problems
were so significant that they justified higher expenditures and whether
such additional monies could not be expended more productively in other
areas of the system.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:x-0 p.m.
Respectively submitted,
Robert M.
