The procedure then was an attempt to provide
sidewalks from each neighborhood to its pedestrian generator and
from pedestrian generator to pedestrian generator. Sideti~ralks
would then serve as all-purpose trails including for use by bikers.
Dahl sta ted that it would be difficult in New Brighton to develop
an off-street system because of the high degree of de~relopment9
however, certain segments of a trail could be off-street such as
on sidewalks or in school or park grounds.
Cook suggested that an attempt be made to tie in any local trails
with state trails.
Sherlock recommended that making use of Village and County road..
easements should be considered.
Hagemeyer pointed out that he felt that trails should go some-
where and should not just circle around as Urell as giving con-
sideration to connecting trails from several communities. Board
representatives s~rere appointed to meet with the Citizen's Study
Committee so that efforts could be coordinated and bike trails
could be considered as part of the park plan.
Department Report
1 , The Board was presented ti~rith a proposal for cooperative
lighting, maintenance and use of school hockey rinks.
