Seconded by
Smith. Motion carries.
It was brought out that previous discussions had been held concerning
Village use of school hockey rinks. It was pointed out that there
has been agreement on the part of the Council concerning the validity
of the item; however, more details would be required if the Council
were to take any formal action. Of particular concern was the feeling
that if there were to be any financial contributions towards upgrading
these facilities from the Village, then some type of time committment
would be necessary.
Smith brought out the point that the use of school rinks was merely
a first step in an attempt to turn school facilities into community
activity centers.
Certain Board members will be meeting with representatives of the
school administration to further discuss this proposal.
Bike Paths
Cook stated that he had requested that this item be placed on the
agenda as he felt that increase in popularity of biking demanded some
kind of attention to increase safety of the activity. He further
stated that a bike path system would not be terribly difficult to
establish, as in many cases it would only require painting a small
section of the side of a Village street to reserve it for bike traffic,.
