Hagemeyer pointed out that a month from now is too
late and suggested going to the Council to request additional money.
Dahl asked if it were wise to go to the Council every time a spe-
cific request was made of the Park Board. Smith replied that he
saw no harm in admitting a mistake in budgeting and requested an
additional amount of money.
Gunderman stated that anytime the Board considered installing a new
development in a park, they should take the time to consider all of
the ramifications as it would involve changing the comprehensive
plan.
Hagemeyer replied that there was a lot of interest in this activity
and the Board should respond to it. Gunderman answered that the
interest should be completely researched so that the job can be
done right.
Sherlock moved that the staff meet with Mr. Glaros to study the
project and how it fits into the park plan and report back to the
Board as soon as possible with a recommendation.
Seconded by Smith.
Hagemeyer reaffirmed his feelings that there is a real urgency to
this project.
Mary Buscher, 1.90 13th Street N.W., New Brighton, spoke in favor
of the proposal and emphasized the importance of individual sports.
Niotion carries.
LONG LAKE STTE - RAMSEY COUNTY
A letter frorn the Ramsey County Open Space staff was read to the
Board.
