The
Board has set its objectives concerning the New Brighton park system
and evaluation of the existing system in light of its objectives.
Financing was considered, however, it was determined that priorities
be established before making any decisions as to funding.
Priorities have been acted upon. The acquisition of new park sites
in Vermont Park and in the northwest corner of the village was
determined to be first priority.. The second priority was the
develapment of the new sites to a usable state.
Presently under consideration far inclusion in the park plan are:
1.. Development of Long Lake site
2. Additional development of Hansen Park
3. Additional tennis courts
~-. Junior football fields
5. Outdoor swimming pool
6. Increased landscaping
7. Passive recreation areas
8. Girl orientated facilities
9. Lighted ball diamonds
1.0. Redevelopment of Veterans Park
Hagemeyer asked if census figures had been put together for the
Veterans Park area.
A breakdown of children and their ages in the Veterans Park area
was given to the Park Board. The number of park-use age children
appeared to be smaller than those in the other park areas. It
was evident that many of the children lived in apartments along 10th
Street and would have equal access to Hansen Park.
