PARK BOARD MEETING <br />January S, 1972 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:03 P.M. <br />Members Present: Cook., Dahl, Gunderman, Hagemeyer, Sherlock, Smith and <br />Gouncil Representative Moen. <br />0 <br />Absent: !~r -~-~ <br />Others Present: Councilman and A4rs. E. E. Fisher, Mrs, Richard Neuman, <br />George Gorske, Richard Ginkel and Robert M. GJicklund <br />Director of Parks and Recreation. <br />The minutes of the .regular meeting of December 1, 1971 were approved as <br />submitted. <br />Mr. Richard Ginkel, 1512 16th St. N. W, appeared before the Board to expeess <br />the appreciation of his neighbors for the Board`s efforts in securing park <br />land in their area. He also submitted the name of a residat~t who would be <br />willing to work with the Board on development of the site, Mrs. David Driscoll <br />1695 29th Ave. N,W. <br />ELECTION 0~" Ot~FICERS <br />Sherlock moved that Gunderman be re-elected as Board chairman and Hagemeyer <br />be re-elected as Vice-chairman. <br />llahl second. <br />Nominations Closed. <br />Motion Carried. <br />D~SCUSSTON OF PARK PLAN <br />The Park Board was motif led that the Council approved recommendations regarding <br />designation of proposed parks and setting aside of funds for acquisition . <br />It was brought out that in the future the 'Park Board should be represented <br />to defend its recommendations if necessary. The Board concurred that it <br />ought to be a policy in the future. <br />The Board discussed methods of financing the Park Plan other than a bond issue. <br />The key factor appears to be the liquor surplus fund and the availability of <br />those funds appears to depend on the accuracy of the projections by the Citizen's <br />Study Committee. <br />Smith stated that only so much could be accomplished by methods other than a <br />bond issue. <br />Dahl questioned the wisdom discussing financing before deciding what needs <br />to be done. <br />Dahl moved that tha acquisition of the Vermone Park and the Northwest area <br />park sites be the first priority of the plan. <br />Second - Cook <br />Motion carried. <br />
