<br />PARK BOc:RD NiEETIPSG <br />November 3, 1971 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:06 P.M. <br />i <br />Board Members Present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Smith and tleissman <br />Council Representative Moen appeared at 8:09. <br />Hagemeyer appeared at 8:36. <br />Absent: Sherlock <br />Others Present: Councilman and Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Dorvan Moen, Mrs. Lenore <br />Parham and Robert Wicklund, Director of Farks-and Recreation. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of October 6, 1971 were approved as submitted, <br />Agenda Additions: Presentation on Community Betterment Task Force <br />Discussion of Rosacker Property 15th St. and 29th Ave. N.W. <br />Community Betterment Task Force <br />Lenore Parham of the Community Betterment Task 'orce appeared before the Board. <br />She stated that the Task Force had held an organizational meeting and requested <br />that the Park Board designate a representative to serve as an ex-officio member. <br />Cook was appointed to serve as regular representative with Dahl as the alternate. <br />Ramsey County Onen St~ace Plan <br />Dahl reviewed the inter-suburb meeting on the Ramsey County Open Space Plan <br />held October 13 .. Several north suburban communities and school districts <br />were represented. Mr. Ken Simons of the Ramsey County Open Space staff appeared <br />at that meeting to discuss the County's progress. At present the staff is <br />specifically defining those parcels to be acquired. When that is completed <br />a schedule of priorities will be determined. However, Simons stated that <br />parcels under pressure for development will be dealt with out of context. <br />Dahl explained that Simons had brought out the following points concerning :the <br />County's philosophy: <br />i.. The system would emphasize large park areas. <br />2. Facilities would not duplicate municipal neighborhood parks. <br />3. There would be a corridor system linking park areas <br />where possible. <br />Gunderman expressed his feeling that any type of schedule for acquisition would <br />not be followed because of political and development pressures. He suggested. <br />that if i3ew Brighton was interested in having the County purchase any property <br />in the Village a recommendation should be made immediately. <br />A special meeting on November 16 at 8:30 was set for discussion of a specific <br />recommendation. The Council and Planning Commission are to be invited. <br />
