i
I
Proposed nark Plan
The proposal for a park plan containing a philosophy, identifying needs and
recommending a plan of action was reviewed. It was stated that if the Board
agreed with the proposal, which is a compilation of previous efforts by the Board,
than a specific plan would be submitted at the next meeting.
A discussion ensued concerning the effectiveness of a plan. Some Board Members
felt that enough time had been. spent on planning and that the Board should take
some action. Other members felt it was mandatory that an over-all objective be
established to provide criteria for decisions on what action to take.
The Rosacker property was brought up during the discussion as an example of a
parcel which is located in an area of need and on which action should be taken....
The parcel is located at 15th St. and 29th .Ave. N. Ul. It was argued that the
parcel is too small (2 acres) to be functional as a neighborhood park.
It was requested that information on the property be made available at the
December meeting.
Another parcel of high prioity discussed was the proposed park in the Vermont
Park area.
Smith moved that the Park Board recommend to the Council consideration of purchase
of the proposed park area in Vermont Park.
Cook second. Motion Carried.
Gunderman.requested that the department prepare a specific proposal for park
acquisition and development including cost and methods of finance for considera-
tion at the December meeting.
Department Report
The Department reported to the Board on the following items:
1972 Budget
Hansen Park Shelter progress
Vandalism in the Parks
Lighting Project in Veterans Park
Meeting adjourned at 9:50 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted
Robert M.
