2 <br />Park Board . <br />May 5, 1971 <br />was not doing and did they want to assume the additional responsibility. <br />Dahl asked if this wasn't a project for a task force. It was explained <br />that the Citizen's Study Committee would study specific projects. <br />Gunderman stated that he felt the Park.Board had a full-time job without <br />adding any additional duties. <br />Smith stated that there is a relationship between park and ecology and <br />a potential for conflict, For this reason he felt the Park Board <br />should be involved. <br />Dahl recommended that the new Board member be someone with an interest <br />or ability in this area. <br />Gunderman asked that more detailed information on the Council's action <br />be made available to the Park Board. <br />Settlement on Hipp Property - Long Lake Site <br />The Council and Mr. Joseph Hipp have signed an agreement for the sale <br />of Mr. Hipp's property. The agreement as explained to the Board <br />involved the payment of $500,000,00 over a period of 4 years at no <br />interest. Mr.Hipp retains the right to occupy the property for 7 or <br />8 years at his option. He must make his decision at the end of 5 years. <br />If he chooses the 7 year option, he will be granted 2 additional years <br />residence provided the Village is permitted to install utilities and <br />construct a road during those 2 years. The Board expressed satisfaction <br />that the issue was settled. <br />Gunderman asked to be excused at this point. Hagemeyer assumed the <br />chair, 8:35. <br />Village-School District Recreation Programs <br />The Board reviewed the recreation programs offered by the Village and <br />the School District. It was explained that the Village attempted to <br />avoid duplication by concentrating on pre-school and post-school <br />clientel although some school-age activities were offered in areas <br />where a void existed. <br />Dahl stated that other villages in the district needed the school <br />programs even if New Brighton didn't and this had to be considered when <br />discussing the value of i:he school programs. <br />The Board expressed general satisfaction with the Village program. <br />
