Park Board Minutes especial Meeting. June 10, 1970 r 3 Mr. Moen replied that the design of the community center was not the question. A building to serve as a skating shelter was the immediate need, but the option to expand it into a community center should be available if future needs .demand it. Mr. Dickey stated that flexibility would be a maior feature of the community center desictn so that modifications-durin the several phases of construction could be made if community needs demanded such_ chanae~. Mr. Gunderman summed up the Board's feeling that the accelerated work schedule should go ahead with a completion goal of December 15. If a temporary. shelter were to be needed, then the problem could be dealt with at that time. Seventh Street Park Association Requests Judy Neumann, representing the Seventh Street Park Association, presented the following items to the Park Boards 1. Residents whose homes border the park are willing to water the shrubs and trees (near their lots) recently planted on the park if they can get permission to water on days opposite their scheduled days according to the watering ban. Mr. Barnhill moved, Mr. Smith seconded that the Board recommend the Administration be asked to grant such permission. Motion Carried 2. The hot weather and winds have created a dust problem for homes near the park according to Mrs. Neumann. It is to the point of being a health hazard and she requests some action be taken to alleviate the duet. Oil coating was suggested. It was pointed out that the paving would not be completed for some time and that the Village has no equipment to water or oil the area. Furthermore, the contracts do not require dust control on the part of the contractors. The Board recommended that the Administration investigate the situation to try to find a solution.
