v <br /> <br />Park Board Meeting <br />~TU1y 1, 1970 <br />Page 3 <br />SEVENTH STREET PARK BUILDING <br />The Park Department architect, Arthur Dickey, reported on the plans <br />for the building at Seventh Street Park.. He explained that the <br />plans were in the concept stage and presented a drawing to the Board. <br />The building would be circu lar with various sections designed so <br />that ,each Qart could be built one at a time if necessary. The first <br />section or slice would be the warming house area. Other sections <br />include a Teen Center, meeting rooms, craft rooms, game room and <br />Senior Citizen's Center. <br />The first phase is similar in function to the other park. shelters <br />but in different in shape and larger in size. It would have a <br />self-contained heating plant and constructed of pre-cast concrete <br />walls and copper trim. A cost estimate would be available at the <br />next meeting. <br />The Board requested that a special meeting be scheduled to discuss <br />perspective drawings and cost estimates. <br />Dahl moved that the Board accept the preliminary concept and pursue <br />the plan further. Sherlock seconded. Motion passed. <br />SEVENTH STREET PARK NAME <br />The family of the late Richard Hansen has been contacted and their <br />expressed preference is that the park be named Richard J. Hansen Park. <br />Barnhill moved to recommend to the Council that Seventh Street Park <br />be named Richard J. Hansen Park. Dahl seconded. Motion passed. <br />The Director reviewed the Department's recent activity for the Board. <br />Meeting adjourned at 9:2$ p.m. <br />
