Park Board ting 3 <br />,~ i7ovember 4,70 <br />issue be discussed at the November 24, 1970 meeting. <br />No formal action was taken. <br />Name the Park Contest <br />Mrs. Joan Vandervoort, from the League of-Women Voters, appeared to <br />announce the results of the Name the Park contest. The winning names <br />Taere e <br />Rice Creek Site Creek View <br />Sunnyside Site Sunny Square <br />Pike Lake Site Freedom Park <br />Foss Road Site Totem Pole Park <br />Barnhill moved to recommend to the Council that the winning names be <br />officially approved for the designated sites. Sherlock second. <br />Motion carried. <br />The administration was requested to send a letter thanking the people <br />who ran the contest. <br />Department Report <br />The Board was reminded of the meeting with the Planning Commission set <br />for mhursday, November 5. <br />The recreation programs are doing as well as expected according to <br />the administration. <br />Weissman thanked the Park and Recreation Department for providing <br />additional playing fields for the Mounds View Little League Football <br />Association. <br />Gunderman inquired about the designated use status of park areas. A <br />request to the Council to formally designate park areas as park lands <br />was discussed. No formal action was taken. <br />Meeting adjourned at 9:55 p.m. <br />Robert M.
