k ~, . <br />Park Board <br />March 4, 1970 <br />P. 2 <br />what are the problems associated with the "perrhanenct" of a <br />"terhporary " structure? after'considering these and other factors, <br />the. Board appointed a sub-committee consisting of the following: <br />Arlyri Gunderman, Ellen Dahl ahd Chadds Sherlock to meet with the <br />architect on Friday, March 6. <br />Crossing of Rice Creek <br />The Director of Public tnTorks was present to review past discussion <br />concerning crossing of Rice Creek at Mississippi. <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Dahl that upon further consideration <br />and in recognition of previous Board action, the Board takes the <br />position that it does not favor a specific plan for the creek <br />crossing but stresses that it is concerned about the wild life <br />character of the park and its preservation, that any improvement should <br />acknowledge these concerns as tempered by sound economics. <br />Carried <br />Order of _Priority- Use of Village Ball Fields <br />The matter of ball field priorities were discussed. No action was <br />taken by the Board. <br />Setting of Special Meeting for Park Board <br />Thursday, March 19, at 8 p.m. was set as the date for the special <br />Park Board meeting to consider (1} the review on recommendations of <br />site development bids fir 7th Street P~r7c sate,. (2) review of plans <br />and specs for lighting of 7th Street Park site (Other items were added <br />later in the meeting) <br />Planting Plan for 7th Street Park Site <br />The Board discussed with various residents adjacent to 7th Street <br />Park site, the planting plan. <br />Motion by Sherlock, seconded by Dahl that Brauer and Associates adjust <br />the planting plan as contained in the bids and that provisions be <br />made for screening of the park area ParallElinc~ 12th Avenue N.E. <br />Trap Shoot Facilities <br />Mr. John Miller, 1044~Pike Lake Drive, representing New Brighton <br />Sportsmen Club appeared to discuss a plan for a trap shoot facility <br />within the park program for the Village. Mr. Miller indicated that <br />his presence represented an attempt to expose the Board to a trap <br />shoot plan which he provided. <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Hagemeyer to refer skeet and trap <br />shoot layout plans to Brauer and Associates for review as to capab=ility <br />within the park plan did such presentation be ready for March 19. <br />Cara led <br />Letters to the Editor February 25 <br />Copies of two letters to the editor with respect. to the parks were <br />briefly discussed. No action was taken. <br />
