r ~ Park Board ~ ~ ~ <br />~ ~~ Feb. 4, 197_ <br />•' <br />the area should be ready for skating, but without a shelter, serious <br />problems can be anticipated. <br />Tnlhile the Board has reservations on total building design, they believe <br />present building must be compatible with future. <br />Based on this position, they requet assistance to determine initial phase <br />(shelter). This would be done in conjunction with the major building for <br />the area. <br />The Board is of the opinion that this can be accomplished through <br />professional architectural assistance. <br />Motion by Hansen, seconded by Dahl that Park Board reaffirm its position to <br />request architectural assistance and request that the Council give <br />favorable consideration to this request. Carried <br />Meeting with members of Volunteer Fire Department Re Legion Field Plan <br />Members of the Board graciously accepted the offer of Mr. Gunderman, <br />Mr. Hagemeyer and Mr. Barnhill to serve as a committee to meet with <br />representatives of the Volunteer Fire Department regarding the cost <br />estimates for Legion Field Park plan. <br />Special Meeting February 12, 1970 <br />Motion by Hansen, seconded by Dahl tha t a special meeting be called for <br />February 12, 8 p.m. to make final determinations and recommendations <br />on the 7th Street Park plans and specifications. <br />Name the Park Contest <br />The Board discussed the matter of "Name the Park" contest. It was <br />concluded that a letter again would be sent to the following organizations: <br />New Brighton Business and Professional Women; League of Women Voters; <br />Jaycees; Sportsmen; Lions; Volunteer Fire Department, to ascertain their <br />interest in a "Name the Park" contest. <br />Closing of Skating Rinks <br />The matter of closing date of the shelters was discussed. The Board suggest <br />that consideration be given to state that the shelters will close <br />February 15; however, depending upon the weather, may stay open until <br />February 28. There will be no further notice given as to closing plans. <br />Erin Court <br />Board members made several inquiries into the status of Erin Court <br />property. Of particular importance is that the Village is not obli.gated'to <br />sell the property should they offer the land for sale. <br />Actenda Ahead of Time <br />Board members requested that administration attempt to provide copies of <br />the Agenda in advance of the meeting. An attempt will be made to submit the <br />agenda by mail to members of the Board in lieu of the mailing out of post <br />cards. <br />Meeting adjourned 10:08 <br />
