Safety Hazards/correction items - the following safety
hazards/rink conditions that prevailed during the 68=69 season
are recommended for correction:
A. Missing Sections- all four facilities, at least one time
during the season, had a section missing. Presumably, this practice
facilitates the entrance and exit of equipment. However, the absence
of sections detracts from the hockey games and the resulting exposed
corners constitute a hazard. All sections should be in place during
games.
B. Gate handle- the Sunnyside rink entrance gate handle is
installed upon the inside of the rink. This handle should be located
upon the outside of the rink.
C. Steel posts- the Pike hake, Sunnyside and Foss Road rinks
have had steel, angle iron type posts - with sharp serrated edges -
installed at each end of the rink. These posts were installed to
provide amounting for ~:~: puck retention nets (which were not in-
stalled). H owever, the sharp edges of the posts present a serious
hazard and an al+,ernate puck retention net design should be implemented.
3. Goal Cage- Regulation type cages can be obtained from the
Century Fence Co. (1448 W. Co. Rd. C., 633-6626). The charge for
units procured last season was X50.00 per cage. Details relating
to cage dimensions will be supplied upon request.
'~-
Cordially,
_ ~~,~
D H.` arnhill
cc: R. Tyson
